September 16 @ 4:00 PM – 5:00 PM CDT

Teaching the 250th: Teacher Professional Development Workshops

The Wisconsin Historical Society, in collaboration with the Wisconsin America250 Commission, is excited to offer two free, one-hour professional development workshops. These workshops are designed to support Wisconsin educators as they teach our nation’s semiquincentennial and the history of the upper Great Lakes region 250 years ago. Following each session, teachers will have the opportunity to attend Dr. Michael Witgen’s lecture on Native Land and the American Revolution for the 2026 James Madison Lecture series, featuring a 5pm public reception and a 6pm lecture.

Teachers will leave the workshop with an expanded understanding of this region 250 years ago, tools for teaching with primary sources, and a kit of resources for their classrooms. Participating teachers will also receive documentation of attending the workshop to support their Educator Effectiveness portfolios.
