Event Series: History Makers Tour

“We March to Our Own Beat” Collections Highlight

August 13, 2026 – February 16, 2027

U-rah-rah! From small town marching bands to iconic fight songs, find out why Wisconsinites really “set the beat.”

There’s nothing that brings Wisconsinites together more than a little friendly competition. Whether it’s the Green Bay Packers, a university team, or one of our many high school teams, we love to be part of a cheering crowd.

But how do we maintain our morale when a game isn’t going our way? Luckily for us, Wisconsin’s marching bands buoy our spirits, delight us with their entertaining performances, and inspire our teams to compete at the highest level. Learn more about the bands that play our favorite tunes and their history with spectator sports.

Exhibit exploring the history of marching bands in the state.

The Wisconsin History Makers Tour will bring history directly to local communities in every region of the state through pop-up exhibits, object displays, public programs, outdoor installations, and other activities.

The History Makers Tour is presented by Culver’s and is made possible in part by the Institute of Museum and Library Services, Grant Number: MA-253159-OMS-23.
