Saving Private Ryan’s Uniform, Or Simple Steps to Preserve Your Heirloom Textiles

March 27, 2027 | 1:00 PM – 2:30 PM

About the Event

From historic clothing to heirlooms, the textiles that hold a special place in our families and personal histories are worth protecting. We may save them because they are especially beautiful, because of how much they originally cost, or because they are connected to a special event or person. The challenge with these keepsakes is how to best care for them at home. Join WisHistory curator Tamara Funk as she shares methods for preserving the most important pieces in your family textile collection.

What You’ll Experience

·       A practical guide to protecting heirloom textiles with expert curator Tamara Funk

·       See historic items from the Wisconsin Historical Society textile collection

·       Learn about the issues currently facing textile curators
